"Best of" Namibia's photo safaris

THE country for exciting photo safaris: Namibia is particularly suitable for classic photo safaris due to its enormous diversity. The people and insights into their cultures, the fascinating wildlife, magnificent landscapes, the highly interesting natural history and of course impressive photo motives.
You have the choice between beautiful lodge accommodations (which are good value for money) and simple but comfortable tent camps where you can find the romance of Africa. - Both can be combined on request.
Short driving distances and sufficient time in the regions ensure a relaxed holiday atmosphere without stress and hurry.
Below we introduce our proven safari programs. - Please contact us so that we can send you the detailed Safari program for each region.
Our focus: Damaraland Etosha safaris
The Damaraland in northwestern Namibia is so rich in natural resources that it can be considered as "own travel destination" within Namibia, and you can easily spend up to three weeks here.
We have been the Damaraland Specialist for decades and our Ondjou Wilderness Reserve is the "Gateway to Damaraland".
Our private Ondjou Wilderness Reserve is located right on the border of Damaraland and is part of Damaraland from a natural history point of view, including the desert elephants that frequent Ondjou. Activities are therefore possible both on Ondjou itself, with the stylish Ondjou-House as accommodation, as well as "cross-border" in the form of one to several days excursions.
Wildlife: Damaraland is home to the legendary desert elephants, desert lions and desert rhinos. Finding and tracking these fascinating animals is worth a long journey alone. Large herds of wildlife are still roaming freely here. In addition, common species such as giraffe and oryx antelope are particularly impressive against the background of the breathtaking landscape.
Landscapes: In the Damaraland there are fascinating geological features to discover from the billion-year-old earth history of Namibia, for example petrified deserts, volcanic landscapes and regions that testify the break-up of the continents.
Botany: In Damaraland, not only the Welwitschia, a botanical relic from the prehistoric times, but also many endemic plant species such as the Euphorbia Damarana and numerous plants that fascinate simply because of their beauty or skurilen shape - for example the sterculia and the bottle tree.
Archeology: We know little or unknown places with fascinating archaeological sites that can be found far from the tourist flow in hidden and remote corners of this vast, sparsely populated country.
Peoples: Damaraland is home to the Damara people, but also to the Herero and even to some groups of the "Red Nomads", the OvaHimba. Only a special safari gives enough time to get more involved with their cultures and to get to know people better during the conversation.
Campsafaris: Damaraland is ideal for camping safaris. Above all, Damaraland offers the opportunity to camp "wildly" without any infrastructure, in the middle of the bush and desert, and often fall asleep with the roar of lions or the sounds of elephants - an experience we like to share with our guests.
Big game tracking: Damaraland is home to the "Big Four", elephant, rhino, lion and leopard. The tracking of these animals is a very special adventure, but requires an extremely experienced, trained (armed) guide. We have specialized in such tracking safaris for decades and can offer this adventure safely and professionally to our guests.
Mountain hiking is less a "sport" for us, but a way to "get away" altogether and get into areas that hardly anyone has seen before. The mountain hikes are rewarded with great views over Damaraland. We like to combine mountain hikes and wildlife tracking safaris with "wild" bush camping - further enhancing the nature and adventure experience.
All these are enough reasons to go on a Damaraland Special Safari with us!

Okavango - Sambezi - Etosha Safari
The Kavango and Sambezi / Caprivi region in northeastern Namibia offers stunning river landscapes, nestled in endless subtropical savannah. Here is Africa the way it lives in our dreams. The Kavango and Kwandu rivers are home to crocodiles and hippos. In the mighty trees of the gallery forests and in the papyrus hem of the rivers lives a colorful and diverse bird life. On exciting photo hunts we can watch big game such as elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards and over 15 different antelope species.
Natural encounters with the still traditional fishermen and farmers in picturesque villages are also possible. Off-road game drives, bush walks and boat safaris on the Kwandu and Kavango rivers give us the opportunity to experience this unique African wilderness from every perspective. This unique safari is rounded off by the photo safaris in the northeastern Etosha National Park, which is particularly rich in wildlife.

Namib - Kalahari's "The Two Living Deserts" safari
In the south of Namibia we travel two of the most impressive deserts of Africa - the Namib and the Kalahari. In the Namib you will find breathtaking expanses, crowned by the highest dune fields in the world at Sossusvlei. The fascinating play of colors and the diversity of the landscape forms make the Namib a grandiose experience. The red Kalahari, in the southeast of Namibia up to the border to Botswana and South Africa, is characterized by high abundance of wildlife in the Kgalagadi National Park. Among others, the mighty Kalahari lion, as well as cheetahs and leopards, which are often found in the dune valleys, live here. In impressive contrast to this is the undulating Atlantic coast of Namibia. The Namib dunes extend in places to the beach. The biotope of seabirds, seals, whales and dolphins borders directly on the habitat of desert animals. In the picturesque coastal town of Swakopmund and Luderitz German colonial history contrasts the desert environment
The final destination of the safari is the Erongo Mountain with its fascinating, bizarre rock landscapes. Thousands of years ago, the San (Bushmen) left their ritual petroglyphs here, which we study as well as the other secrets that Africa has to offer.

Kaokoland-Etosha Safari
The high northwest of Namibia is one of the most impressive and sparsely populated areas of Africa and is something for "advanced" friends Africa. After crossing the Damaraland we reach the even more remote Kaokoland. The Kaokoland is characterized by deserted expanses, wild mountain landscapes, huge savannas and steppes.
Above all, the vast dry river valley of the Hoanib is inhabited by large giraffe and antelope herds, the African predators and the legendary desert elephant. In addition, we stalk on the northern border of Damaralandes the rare black rhino. In sharp contrast, the crocodile-populated and palm-lined floods of the Kunene River on the border with Angola, where we explore, among other things, the imposing Epupa Falls.
The masters of these endless expanses are the "Red Nomads" of the Ovahimba tribe, - one of the last traditionally living nomadic peoples of Africa. The encounter with these people is one of the most impressive experiences on a safari, which leads us into one of the most fascinating areas of Africa.

Bushmanland - Khaudom - Etosha safari
This particularly adventurous safari takes you to some of the most remote areas of northeastern Namibia: the still wild, partially untouched Bushmanland and the Khaudom National Park of the Namibian Kalahari. In addition to the wildlife in stunning savannah landscapes, the main highlight of the safari is the encounter with traditional San (Bushmen) in their ancestral habitat, the Namibian Kalahari. Walking safaris through absolute wilderness along with these masters of survival is one of the great adventures that still exist today. This unique experience brings us back to the dawn of humankind as a hunter-gatherer and is perhaps the most fascinating experience Africa has to offer. - This safari is for the adventurous who seek and find the magic, romance and adventure of Africa. - It is rounded off by photo safaris through the Etosha National Park, which is characterized by its huge wildlife herds, as well as the numerous elephants, lions and black rhinos.

Botswana and Zimbabwe safaris
Safaris in Namibia's fascinating neighbor countries Botswana and Zimbabwe can be made via the Namibian Kalahari or the Zambezi / Kavango region. Both countries are among the best that Africa has to offer and can be reached perfectly well from Namibia.

The Adventure of a Lifetime!
Nature & Wilderness Experience: Like all our programs, our photo safaris are designed to quality rather than quantity, individuality and getting to know the African nature in depth. The combination of terrific scenery, wild animal encounters, the magic of Africa and the certainty to learn and experience far more than on a common Namibia tour make our photo safaris an unforgettable experience.
